I Know a Guy Podcast

I know a guy who used to measure his worth by how busy he was.
I know a guy who could quote Scripture but couldn’t tell you what he was feeling.
I know a guy who lost his temper, lost his marriage, and almost lost himself trying to hold it all together.

Yeah…that guy was me.

Do you know a guy like that? Or maybe…you are that guy.

This is I Know a Guy, a podcast for those guys who need a place to be honest, to laugh a little, maybe cry a little, and remember who you really are.

I’m Steve Cummings, and this podcast is an outgrowth of a ministry called Bringing Kingdom, where we walk with men one conversation, one connection, and one community at a time.

If you know a guy who needs this conversation - send him this episode.
And if that guy is you, I know a guy who’d love to talk with you.

That guy…is me.

Visit BringingKingdom.org/talk to start your own conversation, and remember - when men live loved, the Kingdom shows up.

Thanks for listening to I Know a Guy.

What if the pressure you’re carrying isn’t actually yours to hold?
So many men are exhausted—not because they’re incapable—but because they’ve quietly believed they are the source. The provider. The fixer. The answer.
But Scripture tells us something radically freeing: before the pressure… the provision already existed.
In this episode of I Know a Guy we dismantle the lie that it all depends on you—and rediscover what it means to live as a son, not a struggler.
And if this hits close to home—if you’ve been carrying weight you were never meant to carry—I want to invite you into deeper identity work.
I offer 1:1 identity coaching for men who are ready to breathe again, live rooted instead of reactive, and lead from sonship instead of striving.
You can reach me directly at: steve.cummings@bringingkingdom.org.
You don’t have to keep carrying this alone.

The way you see God is often shaped by the father you had—or didn’t have.
In this episode of I Know a Guy, we explore how father wounds quietly shape faith, identity, and trust… and why healing begins when we separate God from our past.
What if He’s not who you assumed? What if He’s the Father you never had?
If today's episode resonates with you and you want help learning how to live from your identity instead of for it, I offer 1-on-1 identity coaching for men.

Christianity is often misunderstood as behavior management—but what if it’s actually about restored belonging?
This episode of I Know a Guy reframes faith through the lens of adoption, identity, and security, inviting men to consider that belief may follow belonging—not the other way around.
This one is for you skeptics, seekers, and men who grew up around church but never felt at home.
If today's episode resonates with you and you want help learning how to live from your identity instead of for it, I offer 1-on-1 identity coaching for men.

Most men don’t struggle with belief—they struggle with belonging.
In this episode of I Know a Guy, we explore why the deepest ache in a man’s heart isn’t about performance or certainty, but about being loved by a Father who stays.
Before belief. Before behavior. There is an invitation: Be. Loved.
This episode is for the man who’s curious, cautious, or quietly tired of carrying it alone.
If you’re tired of performing and want help learning how to live from your identity instead of for it, I offer 1-on-1 identity coaching for men.

Sonship isn’t something you think your way into. It’s something you experience.
Scripture says the Spirit testifies with our spirit—not our theology.
In this episode of I Know a Guy, we explore why awareness reconnects us to the place where God’s love is received, how presence replaces performance, and how small daily practices help men live as sons instead of strivers.
If you’re tired of performing and want help learning how to live from your identity instead of for it, I offer 1-on-1 identity coaching for men.

When emotions go unrecognized, men don’t slow down—they look for relief.
Sometimes that relief looks obvious.
Sometimes it looks productive, successful, or even spiritual.
But escape is escape.
In this episode of I Know a Guy, we explore the moment in Genesis where hiding begins, why men cope instead of feel, and how awareness—not willpower—is what actually leads to freedom.
If you’re noticing patterns you don’t like and want help understanding what’s underneath them instead of just managing behavior, I offer 1-on-1 identity coaching for men.
This is slow, intentional, root-level work.

Jesus didn’t deny His emotions—and He didn’t let them control Him.He stayed present, honest, and deeply connected to the Father.
In this episode of I Know a Guy, we explore moments where Jesus names His sorrow, allows Himself to grieve, and refuses to bypass His inner world in the name of faith.
What we discover is this: awareness doesn’t weaken a man—it anchors him.
If you’re realizing you’ve spent years pushing past emotions instead of understanding them, and you want help slowing down and learning to live from your identity as a beloved son, I offer 1-on-1 identity coaching for men.

David failed. He sinned. He made costly mistakes. Yet God trusted him with something rare—His own heart.  Why?
Because David was aware of his inner world. He talked to his soul.He asked questions instead of numbing pain. He invited God into what was actually happening inside him.
In Episode 2 of our Awareness series on I Know a Guy, we explore why emotional honesty—not perfection—is what marked David’s life, and what his story teaches men today about awareness, intimacy, and living from the heart.
If you’re realizing that you’ve spent years disconnected from your heart and want a safe, guided space to grow in awareness and live from your God-given identity, I’d be honored to walk with you through 1:1 identity coaching. This is slow, intentional work—and it changes everything.

Most men are good thinkers. But very few of us know what’s happening inside our hearts.
When emotions surface—anxiety, anger, sadness—we don’t slow down and listen.  We react. We numb. We perform. We isolate.
Scripture says everything we do flows from the heart… yet most men have never been taught how to notice what’s going on there.
In Episode 1 of this new Awareness series on I Know a Guy, we talk about why men struggle with emotional awareness, how unrecognized feelings shape our behavior, and why learning to listen to your heart is not weakness—but wisdom.
If this resonates and you find yourself wanting help slowing down, naming what’s going on inside you, and learning to live from your true identity as a beloved son, I offer 1:1 identity coaching for men.
You don’t have to figure this out alone.

Decisive action doesn’t have to come from urgency or fear.
Boaz shows us what it looks like when a man moves with clarity instead of pressure. He honors process, seeks accountability, and acts boldly without rushing the outcome. His identity is settled—so his decisions are steady.
In today’s episode of I Know a Guy, we look at the moment Boaz goes to the city gate and how that scene reveals the difference between impulse and initiation. Men who live from identity don’t force outcomes—they move when the time is right.
If you find yourself stuck between hesitation and overreaction, this episode offers a different path—one rooted in beloved sonship and trust rather than control.
For men who want personal space to explore these themes more deeply, I offer 1:1 identity coaching. If you’d like to talk or learn more, you can contact me at: steve.cummings@bringingkingdom.org or schedule an appointment at: https://bringingkingdom.org/talk
